Loo Teng Kiat
Mr Loo Teng Kiat is a Master Teacher (Music) at the Singapore Teachers’
Academy for the aRts (STAR), working with music teachers across schools
to deepen classroom practice and grow joyful, song rich music making cultures.
Over the course of his career in music education, he has taught in primary
schools and taken on roles such as Subject Head (Music) and Lead Teacher
(Music), leading music departments and supporting arts programmes in his
schools.
He has contributed to professional learning as a Music STAR Champion,
chair of the W5 Teacher-Leaders Learning Group (TLLG), and through his
involvement in STAR initiatives and platforms such as Teachers’ Conference
and ExCEL Fest (TCEF). Drawing on his experience in composing school songs,
writing core values songs and producing school musicals, he works alongside
teachers to design classroom music experiences that are meaningful for
their students and communities.
A firm believer that every child can find a place in music, he is committed
to helping teachers make music education joyful, values infused and accessible,
opening space for children’s musical voices in everyday classrooms. He
holds a Master of Education (Curriculum and Teaching) from Nanyang Technological
University, National Institute of Education.
